Here are some important characteristics of the streamlined application process that allows you to apply for several scholarships administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies: A single application You can save time and effort by applying for many awards at once..For those pursuing master's and doctoral degrees: Doctorate-level rewards are open to master's students making the move to a doctorate program.

How to apply? 


The scholarship application submission process is described in the steps below. It is important to note that the scholarship application and the admission application are two separate processes. Each has its own individual online portal, eligibility and review criteria, and document submission requirements. 

Detailed instructions

  • Access the FGS Scholarship Management Platform by logging in. Please choose "Use Dalhousie NetID" to log in if you already have one. If not, kindly establish a password and provide an email address. Even if you plan to apply for more than one opportunity, you only need to register one account.
  • Choose "Create New" and "Major Scholarship Competitions" to create a new scholarship application, or choose "My Applications" from your homepage to amend an existing one. Please refrain from submitting more than one Harmonized Scholarship application; each applicant may only submit one application per competition.
From the three options offered, choose the application category that best fits your needs:

  • If you intend to start your Master's degree at Dalhousie in January, May, or September of 2025 or January of 2026, choose Master's Level Entrance Scholarships.
  • If you want to start your PhD program at Dalhousie in January, May, or September of 2025 or January of 2026, choose PhD-level entrance scholarships. 
  • If you are now enrolled in the first 24 months of a PhD program at Dalhousie, choose PhD-level in-program scholarships.

Scholarships offered through this application process are not available to Dalhousie Master's program students who do not want to transfer or fast-track to a PhD. 
  • It is recommended that you fill out the self-identification form on the scholarship website. This enables the administration to make sure your application is submitted for consideration for award opportunities that meet certain eligibility requirements, such as those aimed at enhancing access for underrepresented groups. 
To navigate through the application, click "Save and Next" at the bottom of each page. By selecting "Save," you can exit the program and come back to it at a later time to make changes or updates. 
  • As stated in the application's instructions, you must upload official transcripts straight to the scholarship portal. Before posting, transcripts from several different universities must be merged into a single PDF. For the Harmonized Scholarship Process, current Dalhousie students may use unofficial grade reports rather than official transcripts.
  • The portal must receive all reference evaluations prior to the application deadline. After this date, referees and applicants will no longer be able to access the application portal, and applications that are not complete will be rejected. Hard copies or emails containing reference letters will not be accepted. It is advised that you get in touch with your references well in advance and request that they send in their recommendations a few days to a week before the due date. 
  • in the event of unforeseen problems. Once the reference has been completed, the portal will send you an email notification, and each referee's name will display a red "received" notification. Before the deadline, please make sure that each reference has the correct email address input and regularly check the status of your references to get this educational award.

Important notes about deadlines


Please note that all application materials, including transcripts and reference letters, must be submitted by January 15, 2025, at 4:00 pm AST, so please access your transcripts and contact your references well in advance. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Some programs may request a draft of your scholarship application in advance of this deadline so they can recommend edits to strengthen your application. Please contact your program administrator directly to inquire about this. You may withdraw, edit and resubmit your saved application in the online portal at any time prior to January 15, 2025, at 4:00 pm, but no edits or resubmissions are possible after the deadline
