All areas of computer science are offered as paid summer internships in Germany by the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, Software Systems, and Security and Privacy. This internship at the Max Planck Institute allows you to undertake excellent computer science research. Additionally, these Max Planck internships will be beneficial for first-time exploration of novel research topics and study approaches. A selected academic mentor works closely with each intern at a partner institute. The academic interests and prior experience of the intern determine the projects assigned during the internship.

Students interested in gaining experience in academic computer science research, regardless of their nationality, can apply for a Max Planck research internship for their bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees. The internship is open to exceptional individuals from the industry as well. These internships can also be used by pre-doctoral candidates to gain additional knowledge about computer science research prior to pursuing a career in it.
